Ella Langley’s Emotional ACM Awards Winning Speech

Ella Langley had a night to remember at the 61st ACM Awards held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She walked away with seven ACM Awards total that night, the most ever won by a single artist at one ceremony, a record that broke Garth Brooks’ 1991 mark. Five of those were presented during the live broadcast: Artist-Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year (Choosin’ Texas), Single of the Year (Choosin’ Texas), Music Event of the Year (Don’t Mind If I Do with Riley Green), and the night’s biggest, Female Artist of the Year.

But when T.J. Osborne announced her name as the winner of the Female Artist of the Year Award, the camera caught her feeling stunned at her table, hands over her face, like her brain was catching up with what she had just heard.

There was a split second where she didn’t move. But as soon as she stood up from her seat, you could see Lainey Wilson pull her into a quick hug.

The crowd gave her a standing ovation as she made her way to the stage. With the award in hand, Ella looked overwhelmed as she tried to speak through tears.

She sniffled and paused for a moment before saying, “I’m trying to get to say something, but I can’t. Thank you to the women in this category, to the women in this, in this life that I just…This is a weird thing to do.”

She said this and then stopped halfway through the sentence to laugh at herself. Even the audience laughed softly and cheered her on. You could see it in their reactions that they were there to stay with her and not interrupt her. That laugh changed the room.

Up to that point, it might have looked like another emotional acceptance speech, but the fact that she admitted she couldn’t get herself together made it land differently. If anything, she became more visibly overwhelmed.

At one point, she admitted having “a strange day,” saying award shows make her feel that way in the mornings. Then she told a small backstage story about walking into Lainey Wilson’s room crying and how Lainey “wrapped me up, and started praying for me. And then all of a sudden here comes Miranda Lambert in her little pink hat.”

As Ella spoke this, the camera showed Lainey Wilson in the audience, smiling and listening. Miranda Lambert was also seen smiling as her name was called out in the speech. Nobody was trying to rescue the speech.

The ‘Be Her’ singer’s voice kept breaking, stuttering, and rising, but she still went on to thank her tribe.

She took a moment to thank Kelsea Ballerini and Lauren Alaina for loving her “so much.” She looked at the award in her hand, turning emotional again as she thanked her parents, her family, and Jesus.

She kept turning the trophy in her hands while talking. It was almost like she needed something physical to focus on while her voice kept cracking.

Langley also thanked the ACMs and all the women. She raised the award in her hand as the arena filled with applause, ending her speech with a “thank you.” You could also see Kelsea giving flying kisses to Ella as she ended her speech on stage.
